The Joint Programming Initiative (JPI) Urban Europe is an intergovernmental and strategic partnership of countries addressing the challenge of sustainable urban development through coordinated research and innovation. JPI Urban Europe has the ambition to establish as the European platform to create, discuss and make available knowledge and robust evidence for sustainable urban solutions and pathways. 20 European countries are engaged in the initiative and international collaboration beyond Europe has been established.
JPI Urban Europe can look back at seven joint calls, three of them implemented in cooperation with the European Commission. Three more calls are currently under implementation and will confirm projects in 2020. Over 85 projects have been funded so far, bringing together 450 project partners throughout Europe and the world, an active AGORA community was established, among other achievements.
To facilitate community building and a policy dialogue on urban transition JPI Urban Europe is regularly hosting a policy conference. This year’s conference is focusing on the role of urban transformation to achieve our global and European ambitions. This requires to bring knowledge and evidence to action and altogether join forces to drive change.
We are looking forward to meeting you at the JPI Urban Europe Policy Conference 2020 and discuss how we can strengthen the case for urban transitions!
