Steg 1-godkänd kurs

Årets program grundar sig på temat utredning av nedsatt prestation, beteendeförändringar och hästvälfräd. Hur utreder vi ortopediska bekymmer och vad är nytt idag inom området ledbehandlingar. Programmet bjuder också på föreläsningar om hur vi ska kunna avgöra om hästens beteende är tecken på smärta och hur vi kan ta oss an ett brunstbeteende som påverkar hästens prestation. Vi kommer dessutom att komma in på andra orsaker till nedsatt prestation än hälta och i dessa tider kan vi självklart inte heller låta bli att lyfta ämnet hästvälfärd när vi pratar hästars prestation och beteenden.

Gemma Pearson: Gemma combines her time between research and outreach as Director of Equine Behaviour at The Horse Trust and running a referral clinic for clinical equine behaviour cases where she is based at the University of Edinburgh. After working in ambulatory practice Gemma undertook a rotating residency programme in the equine hospital alongside an MScR investigating horse veterinarian interactions. Subsequently she completed her CCAB (certified clinical animal behaviourist) exam and her PhD thesis ‘Stress in equids undergoing veterinary care and the development of interventions that positively influence the horses’ experience’. As well as continuing with her own research she supervises several students at PhD, MSc and undergraduate level. Subsequently she has been recognised as the first species specific RCVS specialist in Veterinary Behavioural Medicine (Equine). Gemma is frequently invited to lecture internationally, as a recognised expert in this field and an excellent communicator. One of the most successful projects was filming a series of short YouTube videos with the British Equine Veterinary Association aiming to reduce injury rates when dealing with difficult horses under the ‘Don’t break your vet’ campaign. In her spare time she has competed up to advanced level endurance on a homebred horse as well as enjoying competing in affiliated dressage and eventing. Currently she is retraining a Thoroughbred recently retired from racing.

Ylva Hedberg Alm: Erhöll veterinärexamen 2001. Disputerade inom ämnet hästreproduktion 2006, med fokus på stoets brunstbeteende och hormonlla förändringar. Sedan 18 år tillbaka arbetat som klinikveterinär vid Hästkliniken, Universitetsdjursjukhuset, SLU. Speciellt intresserad av internmedicinska utredningar och reproduktionssjukdomar hos sto. Har sedan 2018 även bedrivit forskning inom endoparasiternas inverkan på hästens hälsa, med speciellt fokus på stora blodmasken.

Emma Odelros: Europeisk specialist i internmedicin på häst (Dipl. ECEIM). Arbetat på Mälaren Hästklinik de senaste tio åren. Huvudintressen akut- och intensivvård samt medicinska orsaker till nedsatt prestation hos sporthästar

Izabella Granswed: Hästveterinär sedan 10 år med specialintresse ortopedi och nedsatt prestation hos ridhästar. Bakgrund som dressyrryttare och nu även Islandshäst. Certifierad inom ISELP (International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology) sedan 2020 och håller en del utbildning inom ortopediska ultraljud på häst. Även utbildad inom veterinär kiropraktik (FES - Focus on the Equine Spine) och veterinär för svenska islandshästlandslaget sedan 2017.

Karin Holm Forsström: Examen 1985, disp 1995, docent 2006 på ryggproblem hos häst.. Svensk specialistkompetens häst. Alltid arbetat kliniskt med häst, senaste 30 åren endast ortopedi, ffa på SLU men även privatpraktik i Schweiz och på Djursjukhuset i Helsingborg.

Francesco Comino: Francesco graduated from the University of Turin (Italy) in 2015 and subsequently completed a 12-month internship at Mälaren Equine Hospital (Sweden). Following the internship Francesco spent 5 years working as a private practitioner in Italy. He then returned to Sweden in 2021 to undertake a surgical residency at UDS Equine Hospital, where he currently works as a surgeon performing scheduled and emergency surgeries.

Dylan Gorvy: Dylan studied veterinary science at Bristol University, in the UK. Following an internship in equine surgery at the Royal Veterinary College in London, he moved to Manchester where he investigated the role of growth factors in abdominal adhesion formation. After completing his PhD in 2003, he undertook a three-year surgical residency at Liverpool University, before moving to Sweden. He is a recognised European specialist in equine surgery, having obtained the Diploma in 2008 (Dipl. ECVS). He has lectured internationally in equine wound management. Since December 2020, he has been working as chief surgeon at the equine clinic at Uppsala University.

Fabrice Rossignol: Fabrice was graduated in 1994 from National veterinary school of Toulouse (South of France). He Joined the equine clinic of Grosbois near Paris just after, and became partner in 1998. He became an ECVS diplomate in 2010. Fabrice is a senior surgeon at the Equine clinic of Grosbois and Clinic of Chantilly, which are part of the Altano group. He has a 100% activity in surgery and has a major interest in upper airway surgery fracture repair and spinal surgery. He is involved in several research projects in larynx physiology and biomechanics and laryngeal reinnervation. He is also a member and chair of the AOVET Large Animal Expert Group and Faculty since 2016 and is active in the development of new orthopedic implants. When is not working, Fabrice likes also race horses, travelling and skiing.
