Highlights
Lennart Blomqvist
Lennart Blomqvist, the world's first Professor in Radiology, working at Karolinska University in Stockholm. He works with Abdominal Radiology, with a special interest in Pelvic Oncology. His publications are numerous. However, he is also very interested in lecturing about another subject, namely "What makes a good Radiologist", and we in the Scientific Committee are proud to have him as part of the Opening Ceremony, lecturing about his favourite subject".
Anders Persson
Anders Persson, Professor, is a renowned medical physicist and researcher. Since 2003, he has been the director and co-founder of the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization (CMIV) at Linköping University, where he is also a professor and senior physician in radiology. His research focuses on developing algorithms for clinical investigations in medical imaging, such as photon-counting CT, flow simulations, and artificial intelligence, mainly in the cardiovascular field. Professor Persson has published over 300 scientific articles and delivered more than 1,000 invited lectures. He received H.M. The King’s Gold Medal in 2017 for significant contributions to medical imaging research.
Tobias Granberg
Tobias Granberg is an Associate Professor, and a neuroradiologist and section head at Karolinska University Hospital specializing in neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory disorders. He serves as the scientific director of the MRI Center Core Facility at Karolinska Institutet. Dr Granberg has made pioneering contributions to the routine clinical use of 7 Tesla MRI, particularly in MS, ALS, and Parkinson disorders, also he has focused on the integration of ultra-high-field MRI and PET imaging. Professor Granberg has published more than 85 scientific articles.
Jens Bremerich
Jens Bremerich is a Professor of Radiology and section head of Cardiothoracic Imaging at University Hospital Basel, Switzerland. Dr. Bremerich advocates a fruitful cooperation between Radiology, MR Physics and clinical disciplines as it is realised at Basel University Hospital. After medical school he started his residency training in cardiopulmonary medicine at Heidelberg and completed his residency in Radiology at Basel University Hospital. Moreover, he researched cardiopulmonary MRI at the University of California in San Francisco during a two-year research fellowship with Dr Charles B. Higgins. He was president of the European Society of Cardiovascular Radiology, and holds the diploma of ESCR and ESTI, and is Fellow of SCMR.
Geir Ringstad
Geir Ringstad is an Associate Professor and serves as the Chief of Neuroradiology at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet and is a Principal Investigator at the KG Jebsen Center for Brain Fluid Research. His research is multi-disciplinary and translational, focusing on the role of cerebrospinal fluid in brain and meningeal lymphatic clearance. His team pioneered the use of intrathecal enhanced MRI (gMRI) to image the human glymphatic system and were the first to identify cerebrospinal fluid efflux to the meninges and skull bone marrow. His current work includes tracer-based assessment of craniospinal clearance rates to the bloodstream, with the goal of applying this technique for early dementia diagnostics and optimizing intrathecal drug dosing.
Andreas Abildgaard
Andreas Abildgaard, MD, PhD, Abildgaard is a senior radiologist from Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet where he has been Head of Abdominal radiology and working mainly with MRI. He has been involved in the implementation of several IT systems for radiology and nuclear medicine and participated in national and international standardization initiatives. His main research interests have been vascular stenosis detection and quantification, advanced visualization techniques, hepato-pancreatobiliary MRI, and radiological IT solutions including AI.
Mika Kortesniemi
Mika Kortesniemi is Adjunct Professor, and work as Chief Medical Physicist in HUS Diagnostic Center, University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital, Finland. His research focus is on quality assurance, radiation dosimetry, optimization and radiation protection in
x-ray imaging, especially related to computed tomography and utilization of AI.
Professor Kortesniemi has published more than 50 scientific articles and delivered more than 800 invited lectures. His international collaboration is mainly linked to IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), ICRP (International Commission on Radiological Protection), EFOMP (European Federation of Organizations in Medical Physics) and ESR (European Society of Radiology).
Tiina Nousiainen
Tiina Nousiainen, works as Senior Radiographer in MRI at Hospital Nova, Jyväskylä. She has a strong experience in diagnostic imaging and multidisciplinary work and is an International Coordinator and a Board Member in Society of Radiographers in Finland. Due to her professional devotion and expertise in MRI, she is also part of the Magnet Safety in Finland, a Finnish MRI Safety Committee.
Jonathan McNulty
Jonathan McNulty, PhD, H.Dip MRI, BSc (Hons) Radiography, is a professor and the Vice Principal for Teaching and Learning of the College of Health and Agricultural Sciences within University College Dublin, and is also a University Fellow in Teaching and Academic Development. He has delivered over 240 conference presentations and authored over 100 journal articles. He is vice president of the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESMRMB) and is a past president (2017–2021) of the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS). He was appointed as the Associate Editor (Europe) of Radiography in 2016 before being appointed as Editor-in-Chief in 2022.
